LITERARY CAFE ... day Geraldine (former Big Brother Housemate) visited ...

Before the event, there were doubts about the ability of the hosts: Tope Apoola (Author of ‘Times of the Supermen’) and Peter Sunday (writer and blogger ‘ideologyera.blogspot.com’) to successfully hold such an event in Akure (Ondo state) unlike Lagos which is noted for such programs.

But the audience became charged when the guest writer; Geraldine Iheme (former Big brother Africa housemate) who is also the author of disfigured emotions arrived and thereafter, read parts of her book.
During the question and answer section, she disclosed being a graduate of law and currently undergoing the mandatory National Youth Service Corps in Kano state.

A fan of Chimamanda Adichie (Author of Purple Hibiscus), she acknowledged the challenges budding writers face in Nigeria which her status as a former big brother Africa housemate has eased considerably.

However, it was not all about Geraldine as some poets read their poems which equally elicited critical comments.
The event also featured a speech by Afere Lawrence coordinator of African unbound (Nigerian Chapter) and the initiator of the youth farm project (a project supported by the United Nations)
Hip hop and rap groups together with a drama presentation also helped to add glamour to the event.
